Sun, Sand & Sudan - Water Treatment Plant

WGA supplied a range of GRP connection boxes, which were used at a water treatment plant in Khartoum, Sudan. We used the connection boxes to join the SWA cables with the flexible HOFR cables, between the moving pump structure and the fixed intake bridge.

The use of a GRP box over steel was preferred as daytime temperatures often exceed 50°C. Although the humidity is not high, temperatures like these could cause extremely high temperatures within the boxes had they been made of steel. In addition, this particular area is subject to occasional sandstorms, to which the connection boxes have not suffered any issues caused through sand ingress.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your assistance in the design and manufacture of these GRP connection boxes. We will certainly look to use the GRP type of connection box, over the steel type, for future projects
